預約指引

1. Introduction
In order to provide support for business research, Research Institute for Business (RIB) has established a Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing Centre (Centre). Equipped with two systems, one for questionnaire management and another for Voice over Internet Protocol, the Centre can accommodate up to 10 interviewers at a time to collect opinion through telephone interviews.

2. Eligibility
All HSMC full-time academic staff.
Please note: Priority will be given to funded projects of RIB members. If you are interested to be RIB member, please contact RIB for details.

3. Open Hours
Normal hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00a.m. – 6:00p.m.
Please note: For booking outside opening hours, please specify your special request in the booking form. Special approval from RIB’s Director (or his/her designate) is required.

4. Booking Periods
Booking applications are accepted not less than 5 working days but not more than the following days in advance of the month of the request:

5. Maximum Number of Hours for Booking
To allow more users, each staff member can normally reserve a maximum of 20 hours in each calendar month for a project.

6. Booking Procedure
♦ You can check the availability of the Centre through the calendar shown below. Please request timeslots that may still be open.
♦ Complete and submit the Google application form here.
♦ A copy of your request will be sent to your HSMC email as an acknowledgement.
♦ RIB will inform you the booking status by e-mail no matter if it is accepted or not. If you do not receive any reply from us within 3 days before your requested day, please contact us.
♦ If you want to cancel or change any confirmed reservation, please inform RIB by email as soon as possible so as to allow others to use the facility.
♦ If you want to change your submitted request, please first email us to cancel the request before submitting another form.
♦ Please read carefully and follow the user rules and regulations here that will be updated from time to time.

7. Training
RIB can provide assistance in training the users of the Centre. Please discuss with us if any assistance is needed.

8. Student Helpers
If you want to recruit student helpers to conduct telephone interviews in the Centre for your project, RIB may provide referral information. Please note that your project has to fund the related cost, including the hours used for training.

Booking Guidelines

  1. Introduction
    The Research Institute for Business (RIB) has established a Behavioral Laboratory to conduct behavioral research.
    The Laboratory is equipped with
    – two laboratory rooms (one with the size of a conference room and another a small meeting room) for carrying out research
    – audio-video equipment that supports audio and video recording
    – a control room that allows observation through a one-way mirror
    – a reception area.
    The Laboratory is able to facilitate data collection that allows for different types of research in behavioral studies. Researchers may conduct different modes of research to fulfill various research goals.
  1. Eligibility
    All HSMC full-time academic staff.

However, if more than 20 hours are needed in a month, please specify your special request in the booking form. Based on the specific circumstances, staff members may reserve more than 20 hours.
  1. Booking Procedure
    – You can check the availability of the Laboratory through the calendar shown below. Please request timeslots that may still be open.
    – Complete and submit the Google application form here. Please remember to provide the following information in the form:
    (A) The laboratory room that you are requesting
    (B) Purpose of use
    (C) No. of participants in the laboratory room AND in the observation room (a common area for researchers using Lab A and Lab B)
    (D) Whether or not a recording is needed
    (You have to bring your own storage device for a copy of the recording. The storage device of the Laboratory will be cleaned up on 1st and 15th [or the next working day] of every month)
           (E) Whether or not a projector is required, for users of Lab A
    (You have to bring your own laptop with VGA or HDMI plug for using the projector)
    – A copy of your request will be sent to your HSMC email as an acknowledgement.
    – RIB will inform you the booking status by e-mail despite if it is accepted or not. If you do not receive any reply from us within 3 days before your requested day, please contact us.

  1. Training
    Users of the Laboratory must be trained in the use of the equipment prior to any independent use of the facility. All new users must attend a briefing by RIB staff before your first use of the facility.

    RIB may be able to provide assistance in referring student helpers. Please discuss with us if this is necessary. Please note that your project has to fund the related cost.

1. What is WRDS?
Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) is a leading research platform and business intelligence tool. It is now used by over 49,000 corporate, academic and governmental bodies across 30 countries. If you are interest to know more about 8 WRDS databases subscribed by RIB, please refer to “Brief descriptions of 8 subscribed WRDS databaseshere.

2. Important information
HSMC students can access WRDS using own class accounts. Students who need to access WRDS temporarily for academic purpose can apply to use the designated computers provided by RIB to access WRDS.

Eligibility: All HSMC students
Location: H219, Old Hall
Open hours: Monday to Friday (9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
(Please note that prior booking is required. When the equipment is reserved for other purposes, this service will be suspended temporarily.)

3. Application procedures
Application procedures are shown below. Please read carefully the rules and regulations here before submitting your application.
♦ Students should complete and submit an application form through the link here. A copy of service request will be sent to your HSMC email as an acknowledgement.
♦ Applications will be usually processed within 3 working days before the requesting date of use. Please contact us if you do not receive any feedback.
♦ When your application is approved, RIB will send a confirmation email to your HSMC email.
