In order to enhance the research capability in business of the Hang Seng Management College (HSMC), Research Institute for Business (RIB) developed a Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Centre. The CATI Centre is equipped with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system and questionnaire management system to collect opinions from the public. Compared with data collection via fieldwork, data collection via CATI Centre could reduce the influence of environmental factors. It also reduces the manpower needed in large scale research projects.
In the processes of data collection, the CATI Centre applies random sampling method to select interviewees. All interviewers will follow a conscientious and scientific rule and regulation. The data collection process will be monitored by staff of RIB to ensure all progress undergo in an accurate way.
The CATI Centre can fulfill the needs of different concentrations and topics, for example, Behavioral Science, Marketing, Social Science, and Finance etc. The CATI Centre supports different or multidisciplinary researches. In the long run, the research capability of the HSMC will be strengthened.
