Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Centre

Booking Guidelines

1. Introduction
In order to provide support for business research, Research Institute for Business (RIB) has established a Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing Centre (Centre). Equipped with two systems, one for questionnaire management and another for Voice over Internet Protocol, the Centre can accommodate up to 10 interviewers at a time to collect opinion through telephone interviews.

2. Eligibility
All HSUHK full-time academic staff.
Please note: Priority will be given to funded projects of RIB members. If you are interested to be RIB member, please contact RIB for details.

3. Open Hours
Normal hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00a.m. – 6:00p.m.
Please note: For booking outside opening hours, please specify your special request in the booking form. Special approval from RIB’s Director (or his/her designate) is required.

4. Booking Periods
Booking applications are accepted not less than 5 working days but not more than the following days in advance of the month of the request:

5. Maximum Number of Hours for Booking
To allow more users, each staff member can normally reserve a maximum of 20 hours in each calendar month for a project.

6. Booking Procedure
♦ You can check the availability of the Centre through the calendar shown below. Please request timeslots that may still be open.
♦ Complete and submit the Google application form here.
♦ A copy of your request will be sent to your HSUHK email as an acknowledgement.
♦ RIB will inform you the booking status by e-mail no matter if it is accepted or not. If you do not receive any reply from us within 3 days before your requested day, please contact us.
♦ If you want to cancel or change any confirmed reservation, please inform RIB by email as soon as possible so as to allow others to use the facility.
♦ If you want to change your submitted request, please first email us to cancel the request before submitting another form.
♦ Please read carefully and follow the user rules and regulations here that will be updated from time to time.

7. Training
RIB can provide assistance in training the users of the Centre. Please discuss with us if any assistance is needed.

8. Student Helpers
If you want to recruit student helpers to conduct telephone interviews in the Centre for your project, RIB may provide referral information. Please note that your project has to fund the related cost, including the hours used for training.
